Consultants News Sees Single-Digit Growth for Consulting
Thursday December 30, 4:13 pm ET

-- Predictions Issue Cites New Business Models, Public Sector Spending --

PETERBOROUGH, N.H., Dec. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The consulting market is unlikely to return to the days of double-digit growth anytime soon, according to the Annual Predictions issue of Kennedy Information's Consultants News (CN). "Through 2008 the global consulting marketplace will be lucky to grow by more than mid-single digits," said CN Editor Jess Scheer. "As we enter the fifth year of this consulting marketplace malaise (including two years in which the market contracted), 5 percent to 6 percent growth doesn't sound so bad."

In a survey of the industry's top consulting firms, executives cited future opportunities stemming from strong demand for business consulting services in the airline, automotive supply, retail, healthcare and higher education industries, as well as continued growth of the public sector. "Client needs are for sustainable models to generate value for shareholders to address regulatory changes -- especially those sparked by Sarbanes-Oxley -- aggressive supply management practices, and increased global competition," said Scheer. Meanwhile, the courage to transform old consulting models is one of the biggest challenges facing consulting firms today.

Consultants News' third Annual Predictions issue provides expectations and analysis for 47 of the world's largest consultancies:
